Property care in Senj
Senj is known as the windiest town on the Adriatic and the Bora here is not a myth: gusts coming down from the Velebit regularly test roofs, shutters and anything left outside. The Nehaj fortress above the town is the landmark, and the road south from here is one of the most dramatic drives on the coast. Nothing may be left standing on a terrace between October and April, and the coast road below the town closes to high-sided vehicles when it blows hardest. The salt that comes with the wind is also a facade problem, not only a metal one. Render on the exposed elevations needs looking over every year, because once it lets water behind it the wall stays wet all winter. The town does keep some traffic through the cold months, though: it sits on the coast road and takes short stays of a night or two, so a house here is not always shut.
