Property care in Ugljan
Ugljan is the island of olives, a short ferry ride from Zadar and covered in groves that have been worked for centuries. Preko, Kali and Kukljica are working villages first and holiday destinations second, which gives the island a lived-in feel. It's connected to Pašman by a bridge at Ždrelac, so both islands can be served in one trip.
In season
The short, frequent ferry link lets us come close to mainland response times here. One recurring theme is the olive groves: left alone they run wild within a few years, so we coordinate pruning and harvest through our network. The ferry works in our favour on cost as well as time. Trades come over from Zadar on the same crossing we do, so a repair here is priced closer to the mainland than to an island, which is not true of anywhere else we cover by boat.
Out of season
Twenty minutes by ferry from Zadar, which makes it the most reachable island we cover, and the sailings hold up better than most through the winter. The olive groves are the winter work here, along with roofs on the older stone houses. Some owners let to people working in Zadar through the winter rather than close the house up. That needs heating that runs and internet that holds, and it is worth more than a shuttered house is: the building stays dry and somebody is in it.
