Pool care in Croatia

Water chemistry is the part of a holiday house that punishes absence fastest. A pool left three weeks in July does not drift — it turns.

Getting it back then costs a fortnight of dosing and a filter clean. Everything here runs on a fixed interval instead, and the readings go into the report so you can see the water without being here. Every pool gets a plant survey first: volume, pump, filter type and the age of the media, valve layout, cover, and where the water goes when something leaks. The dosing is then calculated for that pool and that week of weather, not applied by habit.

What is included

  • pH, free chlorine, alkalinity and stabiliser tested on site and written into the report
  • Chemicals dosed and consumables supplied, itemised at cost
  • Skimmer and pump baskets emptied, surface skimmed, floor vacuumed
  • Filter backwashed on schedule, pressure recorded, media replaced before the flow drops
  • Pump, seals, unions and pipework checked for weeping and for noise
  • Cover fitted, cleaned, dried and stored properly between seasons

The two visits that matter most

Winterisation: the level dropped below the skimmers, lines blown and plugged, pump and filter drained, the chemistry set for a standing winter, the cover secured against the bura. All of it photographed, so spring starts from a known state rather than from an argument. Season start-up: cover off and cleaned, water topped up and rebalanced, the plant restarted and run under load, the pool vacuumed and clear before your first arrival rather than during it.

When something is wrong

Losing water is the common one. We run a bucket test before anyone suggests digging, then check the fittings, the light housing, the skimmer throat and the plant, and give you a written opinion on whether it is evaporation, a fitting, the shell or the pipework. Pump and heater failures are diagnosed, quoted by a pool specialist from our partner list, supervised, and the invoice checked before it reaches you.

Where we stop

We are not licensed electricians and we do not open the electrical side of a plant room. Heater installation, bonding and anything that carries a certificate goes to a specialist firm. We source them, instruct them and supervise the work, and we take no commission from them — that boundary is what keeps your insurance intact.

Common questions

Pool care: what owners ask

How often do you come?
Weekly in season is the honest answer for a pool in use. Fortnightly works for a covered pool out of season. We will tell you which yours needs after the plant survey rather than selling you the bigger number.
Do you supply the chemicals?
Yes, billed at cost with the quantities in the report. You can also supply your own if you would rather.
What if the pool belongs to a rental?
Then the testing schedule has to match the changeover schedule, and both belong in one plan rather than being booked separately from two directions.
Is the pool included in the plans?
It sits alongside them. Watch, Care and Managed cover the house; the pool is priced separately because volumes and usage differ so much between properties.
